Yes. Swips solves sweaty hands, and hands sweat the same way whatever you are holding. We built it for pickleball because that is where the problem found us, but rosin has been on the pitcher's mound in baseball for about a hundred years, and gymnasts, weightlifters and bowlers use it too.

If your sport has rules about what goes on your equipment, check them first.

The USA Pickleball rulebook doesn't say anything about what you put on your hands. It does restrict what goes on the paddle face, so keep rosin on your palm where it belongs.

Other sports set their own rules. Check yours before you play a sanctioned event.

The logo sits over the rosin pocket, so it shows your playing hand where to tap between points. Put the band on the other way round and you will be tapping terry cloth.

Not on the same wrist. Swips goes on your non-dominant wrist, which is where most people wear a watch, so it's worth a thought before you play. Every tap puts a little rosin powder into the air around the band, and a watch sitting right next to it will collect some. It can work its way into the strap and around the edges of the case, and it isn't always easy to get back out.

That goes for an Apple Watch, a fitness tracker or any other kind of watch. Move it to your other wrist for the session, or leave it in your bag.

Snap the band a few times before your first point, until you see a puff of powder come through the cloth. That primes the insert and the band is ready to play.

It might be two on a mild day, and five when it is 90 degrees. Your hands will tell you.

It depends on how much you sweat. If your hands stay fairly dry, one band will probably get you through. Most players use two, and if you're drenched by the second game you might go through as many as six. It's one reason we sell them in packs.

You know a band is done when you tap and no rosin comes out. By then the terry cloth is soaked through, and the insert inside it is soaked too. Swap in a fresh sweatband loaded with a fresh rosin insert and keep playing.

Nothing gets thrown away. When you get home, pull the rosin insert out of the band and let it air dry on its own. Wash the band or just air dry it. Once both are fully dry the insert goes back in and works like new.

Weeks of regular play for most people. It depends on how hard you sweat and how often you tap. When a tap stops leaving your hand dry, drop in a fresh one.

Yes, some will end up on your paddle grip. That is the point. Rosin transfers from your hand to whatever your hand is on, and the grip is where you want it.

It is a trace, not a layer, and it is not enough to mark a ball. Tap your palm, not the paddle face.

What goes into a Swips insert is our own blend, not straight rosin. We blend rosin with magnesium carbonate, the drying mineral gymnasts chalk up with, so it takes the sweat off your skin fast and leaves your hand feeling dry.

Rosin starts as pine sap, heated and cooled until it sets into a hard amber solid. Ours is then treated to make it more stable before it's ground down.

Athletes have leaned on it for about a hundred years. A baseball pitcher keeps a rosin bag on the mound, and gymnasts, weightlifters and bowlers use it too. Violinists run it along the bow so it does not slip on the string. Same material, same job.

Because plain rosin does not know when to stop. Pine resin softens as your hands warm up, so it keeps building on your palm. Play a long session and it ends up on your paddle, your towel and your phone.

Our blend is built to behave. The magnesium carbonate dries as the rosin grips, so you get enough to stop the paddle moving and not much more.

You will still find residue on your paddle grip. We are not going to pretend otherwise. That is rosin doing its job, and the grip is exactly where you want it. The aim was never zero residue. The aim was just enough grip, in the right place, without it taking over the rest of your gear.

Modified rosin is natural pine rosin that's been treated to make it more stable. A small number of people are sensitive to it, so if you have a known pine or rosin allergy, skip it or patch test first. Discontinue use if irritation occurs.

Here's exactly what's in it. The insert is modified rosin and magnesium carbonate, nothing else, with no added talc or silica. Magnesium carbonate is the main ingredient in climbing chalk and shows up in some antacids, and rosin is what baseball pitchers have kept on the mound for generations. It's a powder, so don't breathe in the dust, and a small number of people find rosin irritates their skin.

Worth clearing up, gym chalk is not the chalk from a classroom blackboard. That is calcium carbonate or gypsum. Gym chalk is magnesium carbonate, a different mineral doing a different job.

The band is. Take the rosin insert out first, machine wash cold and air dry. No tumble dryer.

The insert is not washable, but a soaked one is not finished either. Let it air dry on its own, away from the band, and once both are fully dry the insert goes back in and plays like new. You replace an insert when a tap stops leaving your hand dry, not because it got wet.

Hand lotion first, then a wet wipe. The lotion breaks the rosin down and the wipe takes off the residue.
